Famous Composers

Why I Chose This Topic

Music has been a passion of mine every since I was a child. My parents had exposed me to classical music at such an early age that all I ever spent doing was listening to it. I wasn't aware of the multiple composers and who wrote what until I left sixth grade. I then discovered Frédéric Chopin, probably my favorite composer. He generally composed for the piano, which is why he became my favorite. Due to the abundance of piano works, the range of difficulty was quite vast, which allowed any beginning pianist to start learning. His works allowed me to develop a solid foundation on piano, which at the same time developed a solid foundation on music theory. Because of this, I can now enjoy classical music much more as I understand how it's all written. That is why I chose this topic: music is a strong passion that I enjoy discussing because it's been with me every since I was young.

Frédéric Chopin (Back to top)

Frédéric François Chopin (22 February or 1 March 1810 – 17 October 1849), born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin, was a Polish composer and a virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era, who wrote primarily for the solo piano. He gained and has maintained renown worldwide as one of the leading musicians of his era, whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation." Chopin was born in what was then the Duchy of Warsaw, and grew up in Warsaw, which after 1815 became part of Congress Poland. A child prodigy, he completed his musical education and composed his earlier works in Warsaw before leaving Poland at the age of 20, less than a month before the outbreak of the November 1830 Uprising.

Johann Sebastian Bach(Back to top)

Johann Sebastian Bach(31 March 1685 – 28 July 1750) was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period. He enriched established German styles through his skill in counterpoint, harmonic and motivic organisation, and the adaptation of rhythms, forms, and textures from abroad, particularly from Italy and France. Bach's compositions include the Brandenburg Concertos, the Goldberg Variations, the Mass in B minor, two Passions, and over three hundred cantatas of which around two hundred survive. His music is revered for its technical command, artistic beauty, and intellectual depth. Bach's abilities as an organist were highly respected during his lifetime, although he was not widely recognised as a great composer until a revival of interest and performances of his music in the first half of the 19th century. He is now generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time.
