Why should I be frightened of dying? There's no reason for it -- you've got to go sometime...
Some of the only words said during the song "The Great Gig in the Sky", written by one of the founders of the group, Richard Wright.
I like this line because it's blunt. You shouldn't be scared of what's to come but live for it.
When it happens, it happens.
The Great Gig in the Sky
My favorite song of the group because it's simple but powerful.
A short melancholy intro that eventually leads to the iconic portion of the song, which is this powerful gospel-like vocal part sung by a woman by the name of Clare Torry.
The entire song is about dying, and you can kind of feel it the way the song is structured.
Overall, a great piece of music.
And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I don't mind.
Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
If you can hear this whispering you are dying.
I never said I was frightened of dying.
