Designed by Robert Mills, construction of this monument started in 1848 and was completed in 1884. The ones who completed the structure were, Thomas Casey and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. There were also two phases of construction. They included a private and public one.
Built in the Nation's capital, this monument was built in the honor of one of the founding father. Named after George Washington it represents the gratitudes towards those who molded the country into the one we live in today.
