History

Built in 1632, Emperor Shah Jahan wanted a place to lay the tomb of his late wife, Mumtaz Mahal. She had died after giving birth to their fourteenth child. The construction of this building was not an overnight project. The Taj Mahal took 20 years to be constructed. Now it is a symbol of India's rich history.

Importance
